Top Ten Things to do in San Marcos

After a day of hitting the trail with Maverick Riding, you might be looking for a few more things to do in the area.  Because San Marcos, TX is just a hop, skip and a jump away from our horse rental facility, you’ll find it a convenient stop on your Texas Vacation.

Dick’s Classic Garage is a great go-to for the auto lover in your life.  Enjoy classics on display, with a great collection of beautiful cars to delight the senses.  Dick’s is notorious for delivering a 5 star experience, including a brief history about the vehicles from roughly 1911 through 1959.  It’s more than you would expect from a car lot, that’s for sure!  The museum is close to Interstate 35, and is open from 10am to 5pm.  Located at 120 Stagecoach Trl in San Marcos Texas, you couldn’t find anything more conveniently located from our ranch.  Give them a call at (512) 878-2406 for more information, or to book an appointment.  Don’t forget to tell them that Maverick Horseback Riding referred you!

Check out our Blog post on Floating the San Marcos River with Don’s Fish Camp and The Lion’s Club Tube Rentals.  We always make a point of mentioning a visit to see the river.  It’s refreshing, beautiful and unforgettable.  Click HERE for a direct link.

Most people are familiar with the San Marcos Outlets.  If there’s a shopping aficionado in your group, it’s worth the while to let them run amuck at the dozens and dozens of designer stores for a few hours.  Hey, they deserve it, right?  They just hit the saddle for a few hours and they need to decompress with some spending, right?  Right?  Most of the stores are open from 10am to 9pm so you’ll have plenty of time to get in a horseback riding session as well as some shopping.  And really, what vacation is complete without a trip to some stores?  The San Marcos Premium Outlets are located at 3939 S Interstate 35 Ste 900, San Marcos, TX 78666-5977.

Keep tuned in and we will make sure you have the skinny on all the hip things to do in San Marcos and South Austin.  While we like to think that horseback riding will be the highlight of your staycation, daycation, or straight-up VACATION in Texas, we also understand that not all groups are created equal.  Good thing our amazing location gives the less enthusiastic horseback riders in your group the chance to do something that makes their heart sing.

Happy vacationing, and happy trails!
