Austin TX, a city filled with countless activities and adventures for those willing to reflect upon the historic importance of this beautiful city and engage in the thrill of life it offers. Austin in none like the other lifeless and dull cities, in fact, it is one filled with colorful lights and immense diversity to capture the tourist attractions. Since Austin is a city filled with many attractions, it is only natural for tourists to hesitate on choosing a location. Therefore, as a common visitor to this marvelous city, I am here to inform you of my favorite site.

As said before, Austin has countless attractions such as museums, parks, lakes, galleries, and many other monumental crowd-pleasers. However, a well known tourist attraction is the Lady Bird Lake. As of right now, many may wonder as to why a simple lake is such a great attraction. And the answer to this simple question is the countless attributes that comes along with this lake. Usually within other cities, lakes can only be seen as a visual attraction. Meaning that one cannot enter the lake but only see it. However, the Lady Bird Lake is not one to be compared to the others. Before entering the physical attributes of this lake, allow me to educate you on its historic importance within our society.

The Lady Bird Lake is a section of the Colorado River that runs through downtown Austin which was created by the building of the Longhorn Dam in 1960. From 1960 until 2007, the body of water was known as Town Lake. It was officially renamed after First Lady Lady Bird Johnson because of her work beautifying the shoreline and creating the system of hike and bike trails we know and love today. Although the historic value of this Lake is of great importance, it is the physical characteristics of this lake that attracts countless visitors. Activitie such as hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, and river cruises comes along with the Lady Bird Lake attractions. To those who love to bike and hike, this may be the perfect spot for you.

The Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail is over 10 miles long and makes a complete circuit around Lady Bird Lake. In fact, it is one of the oldest urban hike and bike paths in Texas. The trail is mostly flat and composed of crushed granite, making it a great place to go for a jog with
friends or a nice bike ride. However, if you are the one who wants to relax and just appreciate the beauty of nature, then kayaking and canoeing in this beautiful lake is the way to go. The City of Austin officially outlawed personal motorized boats on Lady Bird Lake, making it a perfect haven for canoes and kayaks. Just lay back and enjoy the beautiful blue waters and the cool Texas breeze. Along with kayaking and canoeing, paddleboarding also gives tourists the opportunity to lay back and see the beauty of nature.

Now, let’s say you want to be out on the water, but doesn’t want to expend any effort. Instead, you want to enjoy a sip of beer and see the beautiful sunset over the beautiful water. Then, river cruises are the best option for you. In conclusion, the Lady Bird Lake is the perfect location and perfect opportunity to applaud the beauty of nature and to engage in what it offers. Therefore, come to Austin and experience the beautiful attraction and activities this beautiful city has to offer. Never again hesitate on what
you want to do, instead, just remember that the Lady Bird Lake is the way to go.
