Things to do in San Marcos: Wonder World Park

Wonder World Park is a natural and wildlife area, somewhat akin to a mini San Marcos theme park, and perfect for a family looking for another fun activity to do in the area after their ride with Maverick Horse Rentals.  It’s got a little bit of everything, from wondering around a cave with some informative and friendly guides to feeding some Texas deer by hand.

The observation tower at Wonder World may be a bit intimidating to some, but how fun it is to go way up in the air and get a bird’s eye view of the park.  Folks who tend to feel nervous with heights might find the airy space a little overwhelming, especially as there may be large groups around as well.  The same holds true for the cavern.  If tight or dark spaces make you uncomfortable, then come ready to be a little outside of your comfort box and take it in stride, or skip this part of the Central Texas Park.

If you’ve got a train lover in your group (and don’t forget about the train ride at Zilker Park in Austin), then they will certainly enjoy a choo-choo through the wildlife park.  Aside from getting to feed the deer, which is a highlight for many visitors, there are also peacocks, sheep and more animals for your enjoyment.

Don’t forget to tell Wonder World Park that Maverick Riding sent you!  We recommend this experience for families with young children.  Remember, it’s an active type experience so if that’s not what you’re looking for, you probably won’t get what you are looking for.   Wonder World Park has been serving Central Texas Vacationers for over a hundred years.  If you’ve been as a child, it might not be exactly what you remember.  That’s generally how it is though! Same as horseback riding.  If you rode as a child, be ready for a different experience as an adult.  These activities are definitely the most fun and rewarding when you visit (or revisit) with an open mind.  Things To Do look a lot different when you’re only three feet tall!

Happy travels “Texas Vacationers”!
