Special Programs this Summer

If you’re looking to spend some family time with your kiddos, head over on Tuesdays and Thursdays the whole summer long. Children (and parents!) will enjoy hands-on fun and discovery at the museum. Toddlers to tweens can participate in educational and crafty drop-in programs from 10am through noon, which are free for members or with museum, admission. Tuesdays are creative, inventive, and a world of crafts. Thursdays is exploratory, observational, and geared to awakening the senses. Here are a few of the classes we thought looked like fun. Maybe we will see you there!

July 2nd: World War One Animal Heroes: Participants will be excited to learn about amazing animal war heroes. Make tome to participate in a museum activity to find out more about the daring deeds of our fluffy friends.

July 23rd: Museum staff will hep get the creative juices flowing with a silly alien alter ego creation. Get ready to make the most of your visit to the new Cowboys in Space exhibit by donning your alter ego as you explore the museum!

Exhibits rotate so if you’re a local, make sure you plan a visit every now and again so you don’t miss the fun. Of course, there’s always the IMAX theater. Discovery programs at IMAX are free to visit with your membership.

Many museums in the Austin area offer reciprocal benefits. As adventurers ourselves, we have been really happy with how well this pays off. If you’re planning even two visits in the year to the Bullock Museum go ahead and get the membership. It’s worth it!

A little on the man who made it happen: Bob Bullock

Robert “Bob” Douglas Bullock, Sr. was born in 1929 in Hillsboro, Texas. A Hill College student, he later joined the Air Force and continued on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and a law degree Baylor University. Bullock served as on the Texas House of Representatives and enjoyed a long political career nearly 40 years long. His influence on modern Texas government is notorious as well as his campaign to earn voting rights for citizens 18 years old. Throughout his career, Bullock worked to establish programs for youth and fought vigorously to champion a government that worked for the best of Texas, including its children.
