Chad Adams

“I’m a Texas Hill Country native and have been an avid photographer since my days chasing fireflies with my hand-me-down Olympus OM-G as a teenager. As my skill with a camera grew, so too did my interest in lighting, composition, and color theory. While I describe myself as “self-taught,” that does not mean that I haven’t attended classes at both ACC and UT, as well as participated in countless workshops. Education in my field is extremely important!

“My favorite thing to photograph is an interesting person. I get a thrill out of making a connection with one of my fellow human beings and the simple practice of capturing that connection in a photograph is extremely gratifying. I have been photographing couples, families, and children since 2010 professionally and have enjoyed every second of it.

“As you scroll through my portfolio, you’ll see that most of my images are naturally-lit and shot during what’s called “Golden Hour.” That is the first hour and last hour of the day, when the sun is an ideal light source. Most of the rest of the day, the sun is actually too bright and too high in the sky to be a reliable light source. As a literal student of light, every photographer uses light to create compelling images of interesting subjects. That’s why you often see photographer’s camped out and waiting for their shot right around sunset and why many of your photographer friends are often up and out in the field before the sun rises; they’re waiting for the good light!”
